Private Medical Acupuncture: Evidence-Based Traditional Medicine
At my private practice in Frankfurt, medical acupuncture is performed according to the highest standards of the German Medical Association for Acupuncture (DÄGfA). The approach combines Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) principles with modern medical understanding, offering a scientifically-supported treatment method for various conditions.
In the private setting, patients receive individualized care that integrates acupuncture with comprehensive medical evaluation.
In particular, this means time for a detailed medical history overview and for a calm and stress-free treatment. In my practice, I also use ear acupuncture and trigger point acupuncture.
Understanding Medical Acupuncture
Medical acupuncture differs from traditional acupuncture through its integration with modern medical knowledge and evidence-based practices. As a physician trained in both conventional medicine and specialized acupuncture techniques, my approach considers both Eastern medicine principles and Western medical diagnostics, creating a balanced and effective therapeutic strategy.
A background in conventional medicine ensures that acupuncture treatments complement other medical interventions when necessary. This integrated approach often provides superior results compared to either treatment method alone.

Trigger point acupuncture
This special acupuncture procedure is used to treat myofascial pain and functional disorders, which are characterized by restricted movement and impaired muscular function and are often accompanied by severe muscle stiffness. The so-called "trigger points" can be deactivated very effectively and with little trauma. A thin acupuncture needle is used to precisely locate and puncture the trigger point. If the corresponding point is hit precisely, this results in a brief "twitch" of the muscle in the sense of a local response, which is also referred to as a "local twitch response". After this type of treatment, the treated muscle usually feels much more relaxed and there is often improved mobility in the treated region.
Ear Acupuncture
As the basis of ear acupuncture, each body region or organ corresponds to specific points in the auricle area, the puncture of which generally has a very rapid therapeutic effect, particularly in the treatment of pain in the musculoskeletal system. In addition, ear acupuncture can be highly relevant in overall diagnostics. Ear acupuncture is generally used in addition to body acupuncture, but can also be used as an independent therapy on its own.
